But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart. If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you [of] heavenly things? When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone. And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done? Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any [man] pluck them out of my hand. Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is [one] that accuseth you, [even] Moses, in whom ye trust. Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt. And they which were sent were of the Pharisees. They understood not that he spake to them of the Father. Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you. But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all [men], I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard [him] ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world. This he said, signifying what death he should die. But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done. And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape. Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also [my] hands and [my] head. And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: [then] came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace [be] unto you. And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard [him] ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world. But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved. Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end. Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again, I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. |
