Chocolate Snowstorms

Posted: 28 Jan 2012 03:05 PM PST

I tried out  a new recipe [from a food network magazine insert] and it is a keeper! This is how good they are… Brian asked me to make him a second batch just a week after I made the first! Yum! And yes, they are worth the sacrifice of my kitchen being 100 degrees after baking!
Happy Baking!

Chocolate Snowstorms
1 1/4 cup brown sugar
1 stick butter
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
3/4 teaspoon soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
powder sugar
Beat sugar and butter. Add egg and vanilla. In a separate bowl mix all dry ingredients. Add dry ingredients to batter. Mix just until combined. Chill dough for 30 mins [don't sneak to many bites of dough]  Bake at 350 for 12-15 mins. Roll hot cookies in powder sugar.
Happy Baking!!

Weekend-ing

Posted: 28 Jan 2012 03:29 PM PST

Hi friends! Hope you all had a good weekend! We had sunshiny weather and did a lot of beach playing! My little SJ is getting braver and braver, she loves running straight into the waves! We “ate” a little sand trying a few tricks on our Poi boards, didn’t use enough sun screen, and ate a lot of treats and it was a memorable weekend!

What did you do over the weekend?

10 Things I Love About You

Earlier I showed you how to print on index cards. Now I am going to show you what I printed on my index card! This project was inspired by and old deck of playing cards and Marcy Penners ink splatters.

I had been trying to figure out a way to use these vintage playing cards for several months now.  I am glad I finally figured something out!

A Valentines Mini Book:

What I did:

I designed the cover in photoshop then printed it on an index card. I added some butterfly embellishments [from Oh My Crafts] to give it more dimension. Then I took 10 blank index cards and glued the corresponding playing card to it. [1-10] Now all I need to do is fill the index cards with handwritten messages for my husband!

How to Print On An Index Card

Posted: 25 Jan 2012 03:43 PM PST

When I said that I wanted to experiment more with “paper” I didn’t realize how easy it was going to be to combined pixels and paper. I have already found a new passion and love for designing something in photoshop then having it leave its typical home [the computer] and turn into something pretty on paper. I recently tried printing on index cards [3" x 5"] and I think it may become a regular occurrence! No … I am sure it will!

The photo above is a sneak peek of a project I made using index cards. Stop by tomorrow to see the full project!

Here is how I print on index cards:

Open a brand new photoshop document the same size as your cards [mine was 3" x 5"] Make sure you are set to 300 dpi.

Now you need to add a thin border [1px Black]  around the outside, called a “stroke” in photoshop.

Now go to  File > Print. And your printing template should look like this …

Then tape your index card onto the template you just printed out.

Now the fun part!!! … Go back into Photoshop and create the design that you would like to print on the index card. Tip: Turn off the stroke layer if you don’t want to print the border on the actual card.

Once you have your photoshop design print on your index card! ta-da!

Tomorrow I will show you what I made :)

CoffeeCup Software

The New HTML Editor and Resource Pack: Pure Dynamite!

That’s right, , we’ve brought you another explosive improvement to our already-impressive HTML Editor. Our happy customers are spreading the word!

“The instant preview window for 2 monitors is BRILLIANT… I can code and just flick my eyes to the second monitor and instantly see the impact the changes have without leaving the editor page…” — John

Sure, we could have stopped there and been satisfied. But we went a step further and put together the HTML Editor Resource Pack, so graphical changes to your design could be a breeze, too. A grand list of top gear for one sweet price:

1. The HTML Editor, of course: The world’s best and longest-lasting web coding software. With a decade-and-a-half of refinement, it’s truly the best in the biz.

2. Unique flexible themes (new): They must do yoga, because you won’t believe how flexible these themes can be. Unlike others, these ones can be molded into a brand new one with ease. Hard to believe? Just check this out:

Powered by specially engineered “smart” graphics, one single theme unlocks an endless number of variations. Just imagine what you can do with all 5 of them!

These theme graphics have been specially constructed so that color changes and other customizations are a breeze with Web Image Studio. Try it and you’ll see what makes them smart!

3. The smart graphics for the themes included in the Editor: Open them in Web Image Studio, select the color you want to change, and you’re done! There’s no need to wrestle your way through a complex set of tools or change every single element. Just replace the old image or change the path to the new image in the Editor:

Swap background colors, button styles, and images, then marvel at the new design that continues to grow after each step.

4. Web Image Studio (your tool for easy image changes): The key to fast and fun theme editing. Open the smart graphics (.wif files) from your theme, make the changes you want, and export. Now you’ve got graphics that you can truly call your own.

5. Colossally cool graphics to top off your design: Buttons, highlights, signs, labels, and various knick-knacks to snazz up your pages. All 74 of them are smartly constructed to be easily editable with Web Image Studio.

It’s true—the newly introduced HTML Editor Resource Pack you will help you get the most out of the awesome new HTML Editor. So…

For the next few days you can get everything above for just $89 (and save $119!) The best version of the best HTML Editor on the planet and everything else you need for visually compelling websites. Who could argue with that?

What is more appropriate for Valentines Days than chocolate and strawberries? How about Cream Cheese Filled Chocolate Dipped Strawberries? YUM!

Cream Cheese Filled Strawberries
[from Our Best Bites]
  • 2 pints of medium to large strawberries
  • 1 8oz brick of cream cheese
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • Wash and dry your strawberries

Using a knife, slice the strawberry about 3/4 of the way down from tip to stem, being careful not to cut the strawberry in half.  Then, slice the strawberry the other direction, so you have made at "X'.
Fill a pastry bag with the filling and, using the star tip, fill each strawberry with the cream cheese mixture.

Drizzle or dip in chocolate!
Gobble them up!
