Questions & Answers – Personal Edition

Posted: 29 Feb 2012 01:06 AM PST

I thought a little question & answer post would be fun today! Some of these are questions I get asked via email, facebook, etc…  and a few of them I just threw in for fun!  Maybe we have something in common?

Do you like living in Hawaii?

  • YES! Oh course I miss my hometown and family in Utah but living in Hawaii has been an adventure to say the least. People always say, “You are so lucky to live in such a paradise!” It is true that Hawaii is a paradise in the fact that it is beautiful, green, warm, and sunny but don’t forget that I still have to do everyday things just like everyone else. I still clean the bathroom, do the laundry, pay bills and go to the post office.

What is your favorite magazine/tv show/book?

  • Magazine: Where Women Create, Artful Blogging, and Somerset Studios
  • TV Show: White Collar
  • Book: Traitor by Sandra Grey

What is your favorite treat?

  • I am a baked goods girl through and through. But I think I love cookies the most. Especially these chocolate chip cookies!

What is your least favorite household chore?

  • Dishes.

Is Milk really $5 a gallon in Hawaii?

  • Yes and No. Where I live, out in the “country” milk is $4.80. But, if you go to any touristy area I have seen it as high a $9.59 a gallon! Yikes, got milk?

What is your favorite place to shop for clothes?

  • I mostly shop at Target, Old Navy, and American Eagle. I haven’t done a lot of shopping lately, mostly because Hawaii really lacks in the shopping department [at least on my part of the island] but I have been reading The No Brainer Wardrobe from Tiny Twig and I am loving learning how to use my current wardrobe in creative ways!

If you could paint your walls any color what would it be?

  • Well, we are renters so for me painting is not really an option. But, when I was in high school my parents finished our basement and since I was moving downstairs into one of the newly finished room I got to pick the paint color! I choose yellow! A nice sunny yellow. It was perfect! It helped to take away that “basement” feel. As soon as I moved out my old room was taken over by my little brother and re-painted blue. Someday I will get to own a house and paint it any color I want! :)

Okay your turn! Do we have anything in common? Tell me what your favorite treat or movie is! Would you paint your walls yellow?

Or feel free to ask me any other questions you might have and I will answer them in the comment section.

PS – There is a “Bog Edition” of Q & A coming soon!

A Quick Idea for You!

Today I was talking to Alison on Twitter. She was saying that she was having a hard time getting all her thoughts together and choosing a style for her upcoming blog design. I suggested to her the same thing I tell all my blog design clients

Make a Blog Design Pin Board on Pinterest. Pin things and graphics that you love. Write in the comments section why you pinned it or/and which aspect of the graphic you like. And here is the secret ingredient … make sure that your pin board isn’t full of rapid fire pins that all took place within 20 mins in one single day. Pin a few things each day. This will help incorporate your true style instead of your “bubbly” mood or “blue” mood from one particular day. The styles, colors, and fonts will shine through your pin board if you gather pins over time.

Whether you are doing a DIY blog re-design, paying someone professionally, or considering a blog re-design in your future you should start a Blog Design Pin Board! Trust me, it will be really amazing to look at your pin board as a whole and see your style shine through!  You should be able to pick out patterns, colors, styles, and fonts that translate over all your pins. It is pretty exciting and amazing actually! Go ahead, give it a try!

was no other than Rinaldo, who was just on the point of setting off on a pilgrimage in search of Angelica, to implore her pardon for his insensibility, and urge his new found passion. Surprise and delight at first deprived him of utterance, but soon recovering himself, he joyfully saluted her, claiming her as his, and exhorting her to put herself under his protection. His presumption was repelled by Angelica with disdain, and Orlando, enraged at the invasion of his rights, challenged him to decide their claims by arms. Terrified at the combat which ensued, Angelica fled amain through the
all hard thoughts of me!" Then she told him all that had befallen her since she parted with him at her father's court, and how she had availed herself of Orlando's protection to escape from the beleaguered city. At that moment the noise of horse and armor was heard as of one approaching; and Sacripant, furious at the interruption, resumed his helmet, mounted his horse, and placed his lance in rest. He saw a knight advancing, with scarf and plume of snowy whiteness. Sacripant regarded him with angry eyes, and, while he was yet some distance off, defied him to the combat. The other, not moved by his angry tone to make reply, put himself on his defence. Their horses, struck at the
search for Orlando, and Florismart, with Flordelis, pursued their way to the camp of Charlemagne. Atlantes, the enchanter, who had brought up Rogero, and cherished for him the warmest affection, knew by his art that his pupil was destined to be severed from him, and converted to the Christian faith through the influence of Bradamante, that royal maiden with whom chance had
behind him, and a bevy of fair damsels entered, dancing, who, taking up the armor piece by piece, led him away to the place where the shield was suspended; where he found the fairy of the castle seated in state. By her he was invested with the arms he had won, first pledging his solemn oath to wear no other blade but Durindana, which he was to wrest from Orlando, and thus complete the conquest of Hector's arms.
But Bayard, in the confusion, had got loose, and Rinaldo followed him into a thick wood, thus becoming effectually separated from Rogero. Rogero, also seeking his horse in the medley, came where two warriors were engaged in mortal combat. Though he knew not who they were, he could distinguish that one was a paynim and the other a Christian; and moved by the spirit of courtesy he approached them and exclaimed, "Let

Rogero related the cause of the strife. The knight was Florismart, and his companion Flordelis. Florismart succeeded in bringing the two champions to accord, by informing them that he could bring them to the presence of Orlando, the master of Durindana. Gradasso and Mandricardo readily made truce, in order to accompany Florismart, nor would Rogero be left behind.
from Rinaldo, and overcome by fatigue and the summer heat, she saw with delight a bank covered with flowers so thick that they almost hid the green turf, inviting her to alight and rest. She dismounted from her palfrey, and turned him loose to recruit his strength with the tender grass which bordered the streamlets. Then, in a sheltered nook
Bradamante, who was uncasqued, was wounded in the head. Rogero was in a fury at this attack; and Bradamante, replacing her helmet, joined him in taking speedy vengeance on their enemies. They cleared the field of them, but became separated in the pursuit, and Rogero, quitting the chase, wandered by hill and vale in search of her whom he had no sooner
perhaps known to him. Rogero, much moved by this intelligence, entreated her to take off her helmet, and at the discovery of her face remained transported with delight. While absorbed in this contemplation, an unexpected danger assailed them. A party which was placed in a wood, in order to intercept the retreating Christians, broke from its ambush upon the pair, and
return to France. When they arrived at Buda in Hungary they found the king of that country about despatching his son, Ottachiero, with an army to the succor of Charlemagne. Delighted with the arrival of Rinaldo, he placed his son and troops under his command. In due time the army arrived on the frontiers of France, and, united with the troops of Desiderius, king of Lombardy, poured down into Provence. The confederate armies had

Cinnamon Toast / Cinnamon Popcorn / Cinnamon Croissants

Hello. I am Kendra’s Mom, Lesa. Before I tell you about my love of cinnamon and sugar, I need to tell you a little bit about Kendra and I. We both like to create experiments with food. When she lived at home and I’d try to create something for dinner without a recipe, she’d say, “Is that a make-up or recipe?”Lots of times dinner turned out great. Other times…well..

I probably should follow a recipe more, but it is fun to just start creating in the kitchen. Kendra invited me to share a treat so I put on my best creative hat and came up with not one but three!

I love this stuff! Take good quality bread and cut in half or quarters at an angle. Melt butter in large bowl in microwave. Set aside. Make up a mixture of cinnamon/sugar. (I can’t really give you a portion, I just scoop some sugar in a bowl and add cinnamon as I stir it up until it looks like a good consistency.) Dip bread in butter and then in cinnamon/sugar mixture. Place on cookie sheet and bake for about 20 minutes @ 350 degrees.

Toast will crisp up after you take out of the oven. You could dip it in syrup, but you really don’t need to do anything but eat it with a HUGE glass of milk.

I took a can of Pillsbury croissants and dipped them in butter and in the same left-over cinnamon/sugar mixture from above. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes or until slightly brown.

I made up a glaze to drizzle on after I took them out of the oven and while they were still hot.

Glaze: some of the melted butter from above, a little milk, almond flavoring, and some powdered sugar. Again, I don’t have measurements, I just started with the butter, almond flavoring, a little milk, and added powdered sugar until it was the consistency I wanted.

Once again, I used a little bit of the melted butter from above and mixed it up with some microwave popcorn. I sprinkled cinnamon and sugar on top and mixed it up lightly.

Grab some milk – you will need it with all the cinnamon and sugar!

I’d love to meet you, come by one of my blogs. I like to write about life and the simple things at living for simple. Or, you can find me writing about and sharing my LOVE of good music at Notes About Music Notes. Enjoy your day!
Thanks for having me today, Kendra.
