Key Lime Digital Designs: My Thoughts on Goals + Freebie |
My Thoughts on Goals + Freebie Posted: 02 Aug 2011 12:36 AM PDT Recently I realized the importance of goal setting. Again. I have set goals in my life a bunch of times… passing AP Calculus, getting a date to prom, getting into college, playing the violin in the Utah Youth Symphony, getting married in the LDS Temple, and a bunch of others. Each time I set a goal and I achieve it I [re] realize how fun and important setting goals really is! So your probably thinking what do goals have to do with blogging? Well…. we set goals for everything else in our life, why not for blogging too? I recently set some goals for blogging. I wrote them down my blog binder. Goals about sales, followers, guest posts, blogging contect ect… I even made one specific goal that I am going to share with you…. GOAL: Save enough money from sales at Key Lime to be able to go home to Utah for Christmas! [Living in Hawaii kind of makes the task of flying 3,000 miles away on an airplane a little pricey.] Lofty Goal? Maybe, but I have planned it all out. Here are my thoughts on goals…. After you set a goal you need to follow through and make sure you have things in place to actually achieve the goal…. 1st – Decide what you want and set a goal. Maybe you want to have a 1,000 followers on your blog. Maybe you want to have 50 sales in your Etsy shop. Maybe you want to increase you blog traffic by a specific percentage. Make it a goal that you can gauge. Don’t just say “I want to have a really cool blog.” That is too general. You need to be able evaluate and see your progress ✔ 2nd – Set up an end date for your goal. You need a finish line to work towards! If you get to the finish line and you haven’t quiet achieved your goal you can extend your goal and keep trying, but set a finish date for yourself! ✔ 3rd - Set up “check points” If your goal finish date is in 3 months make a specific time each month when you will evaluate your progress. Check and see how your doing. So for me… I am going to use my monthly budget sheets, in my blog binder to calculate how much money I need to save each month to get home in December. Since my goal finish line is in 6 months each month I am going to have a “check point” to see how I’m doing. ✔ 4th – Make sure you tell people about your goal. Ask for help and/or motivation! My husband is totally in on my goal with me! He wants to go home for Christmas as bad as I do! We talk about it, plan and work on the small steps of our goal together! Friends and family can be the best motivators! ✔ 5th – Make sure during your whole goal process you are writing everything down! Better yet, pin your goal sheet on your fridge where you can see it everyday!! To help out with the step I have made a free printable GOAL TRACKER! Download HERE[make sure you print at 100%] What are your thoughts on goals???? post shared on Tip Junkie // Today’s Creative Blog |
