Image Mapper is more charming (and sneaky!) then we all thought. Wow , Despite being one dapper dude, it seems the birthday app slipped right past a whoooole bunch of people last weekend: “I would like to purchase it...but how?” — Ellen “Is it possible to still get this?” — Albert “Any chance I could get the $4.99 price today?” — Dave “Is there any way that the offer could be available to me...?” — Robert “Any chance of a raincheck? I’ll be putting my order in...” — Beck We did set the price back to normal when we came to the office on Monday, just as we said we would. (Full disclosure 1: We waited a few hours because we saw that a lot of people were still getting Image Mapper.) As soon as we changed the price back to $29... an enormous flood of friendly requests started flowing in! Inundating Suzanne, Scott, Orlando, and almost everyone else. (Full disclosure 2: Some requests were less-than-friendly…) But we are a happy bunch and good guys. So when we were still getting a lot of friendly requests on Wednesday, we said, “Dudes, let’s throw an after-party!” Here are the exact details of the party you don’t want to miss this time around: LOCATION: WWW.COFFEECUP.COM/IMAGE-MAPPER START: FRIDAY FEB 10th -12:00AM EST END: MONDAY FEB 13th - 9:00 AM EST REASON: BIRTHDAY OF THE SECOND APP WE EVER MADE BRING: $4.99 So how cool is this Image Mapper party? Judging by the massive amount of people that showed up on its 15th birthday party—and by the enormous amount who were angry disappointed they barely missed it—it’s clearly a whole lot cooler then we expected! Here are some parts of the original invite to give you a better understanding: Imagine you’ve got one super-cool image but you want different parts of it to be clickable. Sure, you could chop it up into dozens of tiny pieces, painstakingly reassembling them on a webpage so that certain parts are links… but that would be a horrible waste of time! Welcome to the wonderful world of Image Mapper. Just load up your picture, draw shapes around clickable parts of it, and add links to create hot spots in your image. Image maps are almost universally applicable. You could, for example, get a diagram of the solar system and draw circles around the sun, each planet, and their moons, and then drop in links to more information for each celestial body. Can’t decide who you should take out to dinner on Valentine’s Day? Divide your heart into pieces and let others decide for you by clicking the person they think deserves your love the most. Your car has lots of custom parts, and now racing fans can learn more about each component by clicking them. Puppies need homes! Click the one you like the most for adoption info. (Full disclosure 3: This could go on and on and on…) We are certainly not gonna throw an “after-after-party,” so this time make sure you get in on time (please). Of course, you can always party with it on Valentine’s Day by yourself if you like. Have fun, ! |
