Key Lime Digital Designs: Finding a Niche {My Story}
Key Lime Digital Designs: Finding a Niche {My Story} |
Posted: 29 Jun 2011 11:16 PM PDT After blogging for 3 years I have learned a lot. I have learned things like how to set up an auto responder, CSS and HTML coding, sending pay pal invoices, and multi-tasking 9 internet tabs at the same time. But, one thing I have struggled with was finding my niche. I didn’t know what to post about. Here I was creating blogs for other people to post their creative and inspirational content and I didn’t know what to post on my own blog. I didn’t have a niche. I had a theme {blog design} but no real place to call home {see definition below} When I first started this blog {over a year ago}, I just posted about the new designs I had done. Which is good, but isn’t interesting, relate-able blog post content for most people. I knew it wasn’t going to “drive” people to come back to my blog. Then I started adding in blogger tutorials. Again, a good thing, but my hang up with that is blogger tutorials aren’t “pretty”. Honestly, how inspiring are screen shots of a blogger dashboard. I wanted a blog that was filled with pretty pictures, like these blogs here and here {just to name two} Once again, I was stumped. I loved doing custom blog designs for people, but just couldn’t figure out my own blog content. That’s when I turned my blog into a “static” shop. No blog posts. Just prices and info about my designs. That worked for a while{a few months} but I still had that desire to “blog” daily. After a while of having a “static” shop, I started to notice tons of other people switching their blogs from blogger to wordpress! The new *hot* trend. I was tempted by the idea. I love the clean, organized look of wordpress. Then I read this post … why move to wordpress. I decided to do it. I made the leap and transferred my blog from blogger to wordpress using this eBook. Switching from blogger to wordpress made me fall in love with my own brand and shop all over again. I was motivated and ready to post daily! But I still needed a niche that allowed me to grow my business, post relate-able content, and include pretty pictures. I still needed a “tag-line” I thought and thought. One day, after reading every single one of Gussy’s Blog/Biz 411 Post my niche came to me. “All About Blogging and Design” I love this “niche” because it encompasses my blog designs and showcases my work and includes the opportunities to post content like:
{all posts I intend to write} So while this revelation of “finding my niche” may seem like a small or ordinary victory to you it was b i g for me. I am ready to go! Bursting with excitement! Building a list of “future blog posts” that is already 50 items long! My newly found niche also creates opportunity for me to feature you and share what you have learned “All About Blogging and Design” Three cheers for “All About Blogging and Design” and finally finding me niche!! |

Key Lime Digital Designs: Pinterest :: In Love
Key Lime Digital Designs: Pinterest :: In Love |
Posted: 25 Jun 2011 05:34 PM PDT After weeks of thought I finally decided to dip my toe into the pinning business over at pinterest. I expected it to be another time consuming social media site but, boy was I wrong. Pinterest is a place for cataloging inspiration, projects, decor ideas, and just plain pretty pictures. The best part: pinterest is easy to use. Simply install the “Pin It” bookmarklet on your internet browser tool bar and let the pinning begin! Pinterest is like having a pretty magazine on your lap, carefully cutting a page out, and placing it in a filing cabinet labeled “decorating ideas”. Only you get to include all the beautiful inspiration from the web. A digital file cabinet of ideas. I am a fan. If you can’t find me doing the dishes or at the beach, I’m Pinning. Do you pin?

Key Lime Digital Designs: Blogging: Digital Crafting?
Key Lime Digital Designs: Blogging: Digital Crafting? |
Posted: 24 Jun 2011 04:21 PM PDT Today’s post is a guest post from Emma at Tightwad. I've decided that blogging can be pretty easily likened to crafting. I used to crochet and do needlework. Sure it was the late 70′s and my blankets were a quite alarming shade of orange and brown, but I was creating something that I loved and I found the time that I spent doing it to be sootheing and restorative. It was impulsive. It was engaging. And, in fact, a quick check of the Merriam-Webster Dictionary tells me that crafting is defining as 'to make or produce with care, skill, or ingenuity.' I also think of community building when I think of crafting, and blogging has also opened a huge online community of other moms, professionals, fruggies and foodies, and others who share their passions and hobbies on a digital platform that is accessible worldwide. Blogging allows you to create, develop skills, inform and learn. What do YOU think? —————————————————————————— Today’s post is a guest post from Emma at Tightwad. Tightwad isn’t about being cheap it is a blog for practical people who are looking for ways to streamline their lives and become richer in more ways than just a bank balance. Some post to check out… Saving Green with Gardening, Saving on Food Costs at Weddings, and Saving on Home Insurance.
Thanks Emma for Guest Posting! |Would you like to guest post?| Share your blogging tips & how to’s or home you making blogging and family life work for you? |

These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and [that] your joy might be full. He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true. But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight. Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you. For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle. But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also [my] hands and [my] head. Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him? But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart. And [some] of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also? And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes. And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we [are]. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath. They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Jesus wept. Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived? Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put [it] on his head, and they put on him a purple robe, |
